Sorry, gone travelling.

In May 2011 I set off on a 7 month journey. With nothing but a backpack on my back, my best friend by my side and a return ticket to EUROPE... Needless to say it was by far the most amazing 7 months of my absolute life!!! Somehow I was motivated enough (and stupid enough) to keep a travel blog going through the whole adventure, and so now, with technology being as fabulous as it is, our story is now roughly preserved on this silly blog.

It's hard you know, saying goodbye to our family and friends, kissing our comfortable beds goodbye, waving a sad farewell to the lives we've called home for the last 18 years... But this is the adventure of travelling, right?

Day Two on the Volcanic Island that is Santorini

Thanks to Ios, our sleeping patterns are beyond ridiculous!!! We went to bed early last night. And we slept for a long long long time. We woke up at 11am with the depressing realisation that we had slept 12 hours, missed check out and hence had to say in the seedy apartments for another night. We ate our breakfast of jam and bread in a sad silence... When we realised that checkout was actually at midday WE STUFFED OUR PACKS, handed in the key, gave over the money and bolted to the nearest bus stop- satisfied with our rash decsion to head to Fira. And so we sat. And sat. And sat. And an hour later a bus took us away. We got off the stop before Fira and wandered about like lost puppies until we found 'Anna's pension' (Kudos to the American/possibly Canadian boys who gave us directions.) Here, we were given the cutest room, with a balcony that overlooks the pool, the rose garden, the street and the ocean. It was love at first sight. We explored our little street and spent $7 AUD which got us Bananas, Apples, a whole loaf of wholemeal vienna bread, two big beers and four chocolate croissants. SUCCESS!!!!!!
