Wandering Europe!
Here we go now

In May 2011 I set off on a 7 month journey. With nothing but a backpack on my back, my best friend by my side and a return ticket to EUROPE... Needless to say it was by far the most amazing 7 months of my absolute life!!! Somehow I was motivated enough (and stupid enough) to keep a travel blog going through the whole adventure, and so now, with technology being as fabulous as it is, our story is now roughly preserved on this silly blog.

"Not all those who wander are lost"-JRR TOLKIEN

We are hopping around like crazy rabbits as our journey comes to a close. There's too much to see and too little time. Every three or so days we pick up our packs and travel hours to get to our next destination. Because we've been so busy getting to know every town/city and it's culture and it's people, I've been having trouble keeping the blog up to date. SO, i decided to show you a bit of a map to give you an idea of what we've done in the last month..

Eastern Europe has been such a fantastic experience, totally not what we expected. It has a unique charm which is totally different to Western Europe. I truly love it.We've met some amazing people along the way, and been to some fantastic destinations!!!
So, where are we now?
We are currently in the beautiful BUDAPEST, Hungary's capital city. On our first night here we celebrated our 100th night of couchsurfing and our 6 months anniversary of leaving Australia- and so we celebrated with wine, cheese and a night in the town with our couchsurfer and his local friends! Since then we have done a walking tour of the city, eaten far too much traditional Hungarian food, been to 'Ruin' bars with Aussies, been to the Christmas markets, and today went to the 'Museum of Terror!'

I actually have loved learning about the history of Hungary as the poor country has been through so much and lost so much land and so many lives over the years. After WW1, they lost 2/3 of their land and 1/3 of their population. Along with Germany, they lost WW1 and WW2. And after WW2, just when you think the worst is over, the Nazis marched out and Russia occupied Hungary and came to power with communism. I seriously feel for Hungary.

And tomorrows adventure? SLOVAKIA!
